This is the first hotel in Tianjin dating back to the 1850’s and is a National Heritage Building of China. KWP was appointed by the Tianjin Government to restore the Astor Hotel to its original design. This work consisted of historical design research, restoration design and consultation during the concept, schematic and design development stages. In addition to the restoration work of the old hotel, KWP was then commissioned to re-design the newer additions and serviced apartment tower adjacent to the old hotel in keeping with similar Victorian style with a contemporary motif. The façade designs all include the latest in performance technology.
